Meryl was born in Bordeaux, where she completed her MSc in Neuroscience and Neuropsychopharmacology followed by a PhD in Neuroscience in the lab of Dr. Christophe Mulle. During her PhD, she used whole-cell recordings in the hippocampus in vivo. She is fascinated by single neurons activity and its modulation by physiological and behavioral states. To pursue her interests, she joined the Gogolla lab for her postdoc to study how emotional states impact intracellular activity in the insula. She is also an elected Gender Equality Officer, where she works on ending gender discrimination and improving all aspects of current and future careers for women.
