How does our brain give rise to emotions? Our lab studies the brain at different scales of resolution, from single neurons to neuronal populations, from neuronal circuits to brain-wide networks. We ask how the body and the brain interact, and which roles these interactions play in emotion. We study how animals behave, and develop novel readouts to objectively describe emotion states and their neuronal correlates. We seek a biology-based definition of what emotions are.
